WASHINGTON (AP) -- The FBI issued a bulletin Friday announcing a worldwide search for four men in connection with possible terrorist threats against the United States.

The FBI posted the bulletin on its Web site and circulated it among law enforcement agencies after recent intelligence indicated the four could be involved in an unspecified plot against U.S. interests, said a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The FBI had been seeking information about all four - two Saudis, a Moroccan and a Tunisian - for months, but the new intelligence led officials to intensify the search, said a second official, also on condition of anonymity.

None of the four are believed to be in the United States.

The men being sought are Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, 28, a Saudi native with ties to South Florida; Karim El Mejjati, 35, a Moroccan who holds a French passport and last entered the United States between 1997 and 1999; Zubayr Al-Rimi, 29, a Saudi; and Abderraouf Jdey, 38, a Tunisian who may have a Canadian passport.


Officials have previously described El Shukrijumah as a possible al-Qaida operational planner similar to Mohamed Atta, a key organizer of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Jdey, who obtained Canadian citizenship in 1995, was among five men who left suicide messages on videotapes recovered in Afghanistan at the home of Mohammed Atef, Osama bin Laden's military chief who was killed in a U.S. air strike. Jdey also left a suicide note promising to die in battle against non-Muslim infidels.

Gregory Acker found dead in his home; police search for victim's van
A man known to his neighbors as Mr. Fix-it was fatally attacked in his northwest Jackson home, police said Thursday.

Gregory Acker, 49, of 471 E. Ridgeway St., suffered a blow to the head and two stab wounds in his neck, Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said.

Police are searching for Acker's missing blue-grayish handyman's van. "No job too small" is written on the van.

Acker is Jackson's 31st homicide of 2003 and the second since Wednesday, when a homeowner fatally shot a man police say was trying to break into his house.

"He was a great guy," said Sarah Wilkinson, one of Acker's neighbors. "Anytime you needed something done, he'd fix it."

Police were called to Acker's home at 3:20 p.m. Thursday after his brother, Geoffrey Acker, found him on the floor in the home's living room.

Jackson's new Fox network television affiliate was supposed to go on the air Sunday morning, but a shooting at the station's tower in Edwards has put those plans on hold.

Ted Rudolph, market manager for the new affiliate, said about seven or eight members of the tower crew were working Sunday when several shots were fired at them. Two shots narrowly missed one of the workers, leaving dents in the steel partition the crew was working on.

No injuries were reported, and the Hinds County Sheriff's Department is investigating. The completion of the tower will be delayed until the criminal investigation is complete or until the station receives assurance that the crew is safe to return to work, Rudolph said. [ Read the rest ... ]

A Jackson homeowner shot and killed an apparent burglar early today as the man broke out his bedroom window, Jackson police say.

Sinartha Bradfield, 31, of 1807 Linda Lane in northwest Jackson was awakened at about 12:05 a.m. by the sound of glass breaking in his bedroom window, said Jackson police spokesman Robert Graham. Bradfield spotted a man trying to come through the window and shot the intruder with a shotgun, striking him in the chest, Graham said.
